June 13, 2026 - New world screwworm has been found in parts of Texas.
Check your pets and livestock often. If you see unusual wounds or maggots, do not move the animal . Call the Texas Animal Health Commission at (800) 550‑8242 or contact a private veterinarian.
For wildlife with suspicious wounds or maggots, notify park staff or call (512) 389‑4505.
**Park Closure**
July 16, 2026 - The park is closed for repairs after recent flooding.
**Screwworm Alert**
July 14, 2026 - The park is within an infested zone for the new world screwworm . For the safety of animals and to prevent the spread of this dangerous pest:
Horses must be inspected before leaving the park. Please call park headquarters before visiting to ask about TAHC requirements and schedule an inspection.
If you bring pets, inspect them daily for cuts, wounds and signs of infestation.
If you see animals with unusual wounds or maggots, do not move them. Let someone know where you saw them:
